Necessito listar todos programas Java em execução [JDK 1.4]

Pessoal,

De acordo com o título do tópico, gostaria de saber se isso é possível.

Tenho um “Robô” java sendo executado em uma thread e gostaria de saber se é possível criar uma classe que implemente uma API que monitore todos os programas Java e, até mesmo, todos os processos que estão sendo executados naquele momento na máquina.

Tanto para Windows, como para LINUX, ou seja, se existe algo nesse sentido e que seja portável!

Agradeço de antemão as manifestações!

No Java 6.0 isso existe quase pronto (é o jps, que monitora apenas os processos Java e que existe no 5.0 no caso do Solaris e Linux, mas só a partir do 6.0 para Windows), mas no 1.4 você precisa chamar algum comando do sistema operacional (argh), como o ps no caso do Unix e Linux.

No caso do Windows é pior ainda porque não há um comando “pronto” que liste e que venha com uma instalação padrão do Windows; você precisa mandar um executável também, como o “ps.vbs” que é um script em VBScript e que pode ser executado por cscript.exe.

Experimente rodar este script copiando-o para um arquivo “ps.vbs” e executando o comando “cscript ps.vbs”. Esse comando só funciona no Windows 2000 ou superior, com o IE 6 ou 7 instalado, e o “Windows Script Host” habilitado; em algumas instalações do Windows (principalmente em servidores de produção) o Windows Script Host está desabilitado.

No Java 1.4, o ideal é você concentrar tudo via JMX.

Só pra esclarecer, tenho obrigatoriamente que utilizar a JDK 1.4 com o Tomcat 4.1 (é o que existe na empresa), então queria uma força para saber como é que eu implemento um “cara” que vai monitorar se o “robô” (programa Java), está ativo.

Podem me xingar, mas se alguém já fez algo nesse sentido, preciso absorver o conhecimento e por que não o código-fonte?rs

Uma maneira simples e portável de saber se o tal programa (robô) está vivo é fazê-lo atender em uma determinada porta (socket) - ou seja, o robô deve abrir um java.net.ServerSocket.
Se ele estiver vivo, estará atendendo nessa porta.
Melhor ainda, além de só abrir o ServerSocket, é interessante que ele responda a alguma requisição simples. Por exemplo, você poderia fazê-lo reportar quantos registros o seu robô já processou.

Então não é Java.
Nem tudo dá para resolver em Java , e não é porque eu tenho 10 anos de Java que consigo resolver tudo em Java.

  1. Comece baixando os fontes do Tomcat 4.1, portanto :slight_smile:
  2. Leia este documento, explicando a arquitetura JMX do Tomcat.
  3. Veja como os MBeans são implementados
  4. Faça o seu!

As sugestões do Thingol são plenamente válidas: Coletar estatísticas e, porque não, relatar o status. Com a diferença que o JMX foi feito justamente isto: Para monitoramento de aplicações!

Acho que me perdi no foco e acabei falando da ponta errada. Ok, reli e acabei me relembrando alguns detalhes:

a) O Exemplo acima, postado pelo thingol, é basicamente equivalente a uma consulta a um subsistema do Windows chamado WMI;
b) Tanto o WMI quanto o JMX procuram fazer em cada plataforma uma funcionalidade que, originalmente, é suprida por um protocolo chamado SNMP;
c) O WMI no Windows possui várias formas de acesso, como:

  • Scripting, via COM;

  • ODBC, via um Driver Específico;

  • SNMP, via uma Ponte;

  • LDAP, via Active Directory/ADSI;
    d) Apesar disso, não existe O método. É tudo dependente da plataforma aonde pretendes executar. Qual a minha sugestão? Bem, segue meu howto-sair-dessa:

  • Identifique em qual Sistema Operacional irás rodar;

  • Leia esta página e identifique qual o método mais adequado

  • Monte o programa responsável por fazer esta consulta

Não deve ser difícil. Em particular, eu me lembro de ter sido capaz de montar um agente SNMP em Java (usando o JMDK, um produto da Sun) que fazia consultas via WMI (fazendo ponte para um Script em VBScript). Mas isso fazem 3 anos.

Bem, agora eu consegui restringir o funcionamento ao LINUX, porém, não posso mecher no “robô” pois, como não mencionei antes, são muitos e preciso resolver o problema sem abrir os fontes dos robôs.

Vou reler todo o tópico pois algumas considerações terão que ser desprezadas.
