Vc precisa fornecer um driver JDBC para acesso ao banco de dados no CLASSPATH da sua máquina.

No caso firebirdsql.jar ?
Ele está no classpath!!!
Eu tenho um DAO normal e ele funciona beleza faz insert/delete/update!
mas vou conferir… valeu!

Outros questionamentos:
Tem certeza de que o hibernate.cfg.xml e/ou hibernate.properties e o log4j estão no classpath? Pois, veriuficando o seu erro facilmente pode-se constatar que o log4j.properties não esta no classpath:
log4j : WARN No appenders could be found for logger ( net . sf . hibernate . cfg . Environment ).
log4j : WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly .

O problema era aquela coisa mal feita de colocar os .jar
em jre\lib\ext… bom adicionei no projeto certinho no eclipse
eeee deu problema… ai adicionei o folder onde estao os .properties e os jar
eeee ffffoooooiiiiii!!! valeu a todos ae que me ajudaram!
