Hibernate e SQL Server 2005

Boa tarde a todos,

Estou tendo um problema de lentidão para conectar na minha base de dados(demoram +/- 5 segundos).
Por acaso tem algum “macete” para configurar o hibernate configuration:

O meu está assim:

<session-factory>
        <!-- Database connection settings -->
        <property name="connection.driver_class">net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver</property>
        <property name="connection.url">jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://192.168.10.28:1433/intranet</property>
        <property name="connection.username">intranet</property>
        <property name="connection.password">******</property>
        <!-- JDBC connection pool (use the built-in) -->
        <property name="connection.pool_size">1</property>
        <!-- SQL dialect -->
        <property name="dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.SQLServerDialect</property>
        <!-- Enable Hibernate's automatic session context management -->
        <property name="current_session_context_class">thread</property>
        <!-- Disable the second-level cache -->
        <property name="cache.provider_class">org.hibernate.cache.NoCacheProvider</property>
        <!-- Echo all executed SQL to stdout -->
        <property name="show_sql">true</property>
        <!-- Format SQL to stdout -->
        <property name="format_sql">true</property>
</session-factory>

Minha classe:

public class HibernateUtil {

	private static final SessionFactory sessionFactory;
	private static ThreadLocal<Session> sessions = new ThreadLocal<Session>();

	static {
		sessionFactory = new AnnotationConfiguration().configure().buildSessionFactory();
	}

	public static Session openSession() {
		if (sessions.get() != null) {
			System.out.println("There was a session for this thread already!! ");
		}
		sessions.set(sessionFactory.openSession());
		return sessions.get();
	}

	public static void closeCurrentSession() {
		sessions.get().close();
		sessions.set(null);
	}

	public static Session currentSession() {
		return sessions.get();
	}

	public static SessionFactory getSessionFactory() {
		return sessionFactory;
	}

}

Desde já agradeço.
